Overcoming Anxiety: Bible verses for anxious days

Twelve verses to have ready when worry rises: Scripture’s invitation to bring every request to God, to cast your cares on Him, to leave tomorrow’s troubles for tomorrow, and to come to Jesus for rest.

What does the Bible say about anxiety?

The Bible doesn’t pretend anxiety isn’t real; it tells us what to do with it. Philippians 4:6–7 says to bring every concern to God in prayer with thanksgiving; 1 Peter 5:7 says to cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you; Matthew 6:34 says not to worry about tomorrow; and in Matthew 11:28–30 Jesus invites the weary and burdened to come to Him for rest. Memorizing these verses puts them within reach at the moment worry arrives.

If anxiety is overwhelming or won’t lift, please talk to your doctor or a counselor as well. Scripture and good care belong together.

  8. Matthew 11:28–30

Are you not much more valuable than they?
