Bible verses to memorize, gathered by theme

Eight curated collections of twelve verses each, from the gospel in Romans to verses for anxious and hard days. Every page lists the verses in full. Add a collection to Verse16 and it arrives in your own translation, ready to practise.

Which Bible verses should I memorize first?

Start with short verses you will actually use: a promise to hold on to in hard moments, a verse that sums up the gospel, and one that shapes everyday life. Good first verses include Proverbs 3:5–6, Philippians 4:6–7, Joshua 1:9, Romans 6:23 and John 14:27 — all of which are in these collections.

Once you have chosen, follow our step-by-step guide to memorizing Bible verses — or let Verse16 walk you through it.
